14 DAY TRIAL // Train Sim World 2 is getting two important announcements this week: a new expansion and a new release on next-generation consoles. Fans of the immersive rail simulator who bought themselves a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S will be happy to know that Train Sim World 2 is headed to next-generation consoles this summer.
On top of that, Dovetail Games announced that Train Sim World 2 is getting a new Rush Hour expansion, which will release this summer for PC, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and will arrive with the base game for the first time on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
“Rush Hour marks an exciting new step for Train Sim World 2. We've always wanted to recreate the feel of driving a train in the hectic peak hours and this release brings that tense experience to players for the first time. I'm looking forward to seeing our passionate community rise to this challenge and welcome new players joining as we launch on new platforms with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S,” said Rob O’Farrell, Chief Development Officer of Dovetail Games.
The new Rush Hour expansion comes with a brand-new passenger system. In an attempt to recreate the hustle and bustle of rush hour, players will see a greater variety in passengers, and higher passenger volumes at peak times on platforms.
Also, the expansion will let players explore some of the busiest and fastest passenger rail lines in the United States, including the famed Northeast Corridor: Boston – Providence with Amtrak's ACS-64 ‘City Sprinter’ and MBTA's F40PH-3.
Furthermore, players will be able to navigate the hectic Brighton Main Line: London Victoria – Brighton, with Southern's BR Class 377/4 and Gatwick Express BR Class 387 EMUs, as well as try to master Regional, Express, S-Bahn, or Inter-City Express services on Bahnstrecke Riesa – Dresden.
Last but not least, Dovetail Games announced that together with the release of Rush Hour, Train Sim World 2 will upgrade to Unreal Engine 4.26 along with new features focused on immersion and released on next-generation for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Playing on these new consoles gives the advantage of faster load times, higher frame rate, and improved visuals resulting in a smooth gameplay experience.
