Artificial Extinction is one of not so many games that are made by a single person. In this case, the person behind the project is Chris Dawson, while the studio he's running is called 100Hr Games. It's unclear if Chris plans to add more employees to his studio, but at the moment, 100Hr Games is a one-man show.

But let's talk a bit about Artificial Extinction, a unique game that involves a few different game genres like tower defense, real-time strategy, and first-person shooter. The game is developed for PC only and it will be launched on March 13. Until then, those interested can wishlist it on Steam.

According to the developer, “Artificial Extinction looks to explore the controversial subject of the role of artificial intelligence and autonomous weapons in warfare and what that means for humanity.”

Unsurprisingly, players will jump into the role of a human colonist looking to escape with their family away from an AI uprising on Earth. While trying to get his family safe, our protagonist will have to repel waves of murderous robots until you find a new home.

The game's premise is quite relevant to today’s topics of the race to invent Artificial Intelligence, LAWS, the AI Murder policy debate, and the military’s implementation of robotics and drones on today’s battlefield.

Artificial Extinction is set in the future and you have 9 days to find a safe place on the planet. At the beginning of the day, the ship will drop players off on the planet and then orbit above them where it is safe.

The main goal is to collect fuel for the ship, which isn't an easy feat considering the hostile robots that will try to kill you. The good news is you have Sentry Weapons that you set-up around you to protect while collecting fuel.

As per the developer's statement, Artificial Extinction is about survival, battlefield tactics, strategy, evolving technology, and resource management, although the story is a major aspect as well.
