The Creative Assembly and SEGA do not plan to deliver Total War: Warhammer until next year, but gamers who are interested in the mix of fantasy world and strategy mechanics that the title will offer can already take a look at the full roster associated with the Empire faction, which represents the humans of the universe.

The two companies explain on the Wiki site that the nation is always on a war footing because it sees itself as the final bastion of men who are trying to repulse the assault of Chaos, beasts, and the corruption that dwells within their souls.

Karl Franz, the new and capable leader of the Empire, needs to carefully use each of the resources that the humans have created over time and all the various factions within his realm to deal with the challenges of the world of Warhammer.

He is offered as a Legendary Lord in the coming Total War, but gamers can also choose to lead the forces of the human race using Balthasar Gelt, a powerful sorcerer who can freeze enemies and perform other battlefield feats.

The Empire is designed to be the more familiar of the races, with gamers able to choose from a wide variety of units that need to support each other on the field in order to take down enemies and ensure victory.

Their most powerful units include warrior priests, who can boost morale while also inflicting damage, celestial wizards, who can bring down comets and lightning bolts, the already-revealed knights riding demigryphs, a Steam tank, created by Leonardo of Miragliano, and the Luminark of Hysh, a mix of magic and engineering that can deliver powerful soulfire attacks.

Total War: Warhammer allows gamers to control four races

Gamers who choose to lead the Empire can also recruit and field: generals, heroes that include a captain, witch hunter or light wizard, halberdiers, spearmen, swordsmen, greatswords, hand-gunner, crossbowmen, Reiksguard, pistoliers, outriders (with optional grenade launchers), volley guns, rocket batteries and great cannons.

The Creative Assembly has said that each of the four included factions will have unique units that will shape its battlefield strategy.

Rosters for the Vampire Counts, the Dwarfs and the Orcs will be revealed in the coming months, but gamers can already read up on the heroes who lead them.

The Creative Assembly has also given fans a first look at the campaign map of Total War: Warhammer, which will include unique ways for each of the factions to try and stop the threats coming from the north.

Gamers who place a pre-order will also be able to get a special downloadable content pack that allows them to take control of the faction led by the four gods of Chaos.

The studio says that it has chosen to offer the DLC as an incentive because it wants to balance the happiness of the player community with a chance to create a solid extra revenue stream associated with the title.

Total War: Warhammer will arrive only on the PC on April 28 of next year.
