Gamers will need to make tough decisions about money

The Creative Assembly has pledged to make the coming Total War: Warhammer as faithful as possible to the fiction created by Games Workshop while making sure that the core gameplay mechanics are fun for those who have been following the series for a long time.

A new blog post from the studio explains how gamers will be able to use money to maintain their factions and improve the quality of the armies that they send out against enemies.

In Total War: Warhammer players will have to pay more attention to opportunities for raiding, especially when playing as the Greenskins, who can use a powerful raiding camp stance for their armies, to get some resources to keep their armies in the field.

Province development and tech upgrades can also be used to make sure that the gamer has a solid income and a clear image of how many troops he can recruit and then supply without problems.

Trade agreements might be hard to create in the violent universe of Warhammer and gamers will have to carefully evaluate their potential partners, with the developer adding, "The value of these trade agreements rises depending on how many unique resources there are present in the territory you control. Signing trade agreements and capturing territory with resources present to boost trade income is an effective strategy."

A commandment concept at the province will also allow players to gain more income from a well-developed cluster of territories that they have thoroughly pacified and then developed.

Money can also be obtained by unlocking certain skills for heroes, improving the unique buildings in the faction capital and by looting the bodies of the dead after a particularly bloody engagement with the enemy.

Total War: Warhammer has new province system, many minor factions

The Creative Assembly has announced that none of the featured factions can conquer the entire map in its quest to keep the Old World safe from the advancing forces of Chaos, which means players will have to carefully consider where to set borders and what provinces to wipe out completely.

The studio has also offered a full map featuring all the minor factions that can interfere with long-term strategy, with the Empire able to enter alliances with its closest neighbors to make them vassals while the Greenskins will be more focused on wiping them out.

So far fans got a range of details about the way the Empire, the Dwarves and the Greenskins will behave in battle and on the campaign map but the developers have not yet introduced any information about the mechanics associated with the Vampire Counts.

Total War: Warhammer will be launched on the PC on April 28 and gamers who want to play as the Chaos warriors on the campaign map need to place a pre-order for the title.

The Creative Assembly has also revealed that it has a separate team that's also working on a new historical title, although it is not ready to offer any kinds of details about the setting at the moment.
