Total War: Warhammer III is the latest game that joins the list of titles that have been delayed to 2022. Fans of the universe will probably be sad to know that Creative Assembly and SEGA have decided to push the launch date of the third major installment in the series onto early 2022.

On the bright side, we can be sure that we’ll have a much better game at launch, as developers will be using the extra time to address any technical issues and to polish what’s already been done.

In a statement published on Twitter, SEGA notes that while it might be tempted to rush the launch of the game and make it available this year, it decided against it in order to provide players with the ultimate Total War: Warhammer experience.

With nearly a decade of development on the Total War: Warhammer trilogy behind us, it feels surreal to see its culminating chapter so close to release. While it’s tempting to rush to the finish line as it comes into view, we have made the decision to give it a little more time by moving the launch of Total War: Warhammer III from 2021 to early 2022.”

The statement also includes some hints to what the studio might be working on after the launch of the third Total War: Warhammer game. As some of you probably know, the upcoming title is supposed to end of Total War: Warhammer trilogy, but that doesn’t mean that SEGA won’t be releasing another Total War game in the Warhammer fantasy universe.

We don’t consider this release the end of our trilogy, but the start of years of content and support as we continue to bring the jaw-dropping scale of Games Workshop’s fantasy universe to Total War.”

That being said, SEGA announced the global reveal of Grand Cathay will take place today, so tune it to the publisher’s official social channels to learn more about the new Total War: Warhammer faction.
