In the run up to Christmas, the development team at The Creative Assembly is ready to offer some more details about the coming Total War: Warhammer, allowing fans of the strategy franchise to get a first look at the tech tree that they will be using if they plan to take control of the Dwarves in order to try and conquer the world and stop the Chaos threat.

The official announcement explains that their particular building model is linked to guilds, allowing each individual to find where he does his best work and then join with others to enhance his performance and create a clearly organized society.

The Creative Assembly states, "they have three building chains that recruit infantry - one basic infantry chain for their core troops such as Dwarf Warriors, Miners and Longbeards and two specialized chains for the recruitment of elite infantry such as Ironbreakers, Hammerers and Slayers. Dwarfs are of course renowned for their warmachines, so they have a long chain that produces their state-of-the-art artillery units."

Gamers who play as the race in Total War: Warhammer will be unable to recruit any cavalry forces, and it's unclear whether the game will feature any mercenary system that gives factions a chance to remedy their weak points.

Dwarves will also focus on their forge to upgrade units, allowing even basic infantry units to use great weapons, which offer good offensive power even against heavily armored units fielded by other races during the middle game.

Total War: Warhammer will deliver variety when it comes to gameplay

The Creative Assembly has already explained that each of the four races included in the strategy experience will have its set of mechanics that reflect its unique nature and the way it interacts with the world.

The Empire offers the experience that's closest to other installments in the Total War franchise, allowing gamers to recruit classic units but also Steam tanks, wizards and demigryphs that offer devastating charges.

Meanwhile, the Greenskins will be focused on their Waaagh and will be able to use numbers and sacrificial units to open up a hole in the lines of their opponents before they send in their elite units.

Total War: Warhammer will also feature the Vampire Counts as a playable faction, but The Creative Assembly has not yet talked about their unique mechanics.

Each faction will have its set of Legendary Lords that can both lead armies and perform unique actions on the strategic map.

Total War: Warhammer will be launched only on the PC and is expected to arrive on April 29 of 2016.

Those who place a pre-order will be able to get access to a free downloadable content pack that opens up access to the Chaos race, allowing them to be playable, with unique buildings and units, in the core campaign.

The development team has suggested that there are two other titles planned in the Warhammer continuity, both designed to explore the End Times moment in the fictional setting of the fantasy universe created by Games Workshop.
