Gamers also get less lag and improved balance

The development team at The Creative Assembly might be delivering new information about Total War: Warhammer on a regular basis, but the company still has another major project in development and Total War: Arena has just hit a significant milestone.

With the launch of Patch 11 for the strategy title, gamers will no longer be subjected to account resets when the team implements some major change to the title, which means that those who are currently playing will get to keep their progress until the game is fully launched.

The Creative Assembly says that it is only making the change after extensive testing of Total War: Arena to make sure that the tools and the infrastructure associated with the game are solid.

The studio adds, "Patch 11 also brings huge improvements to CPU optimisation and significantly lowers the system spec required to get great performance in game. If you’ve been prevented from playing so far due to unit lag, it’s time to give the last build a try."

The developers acknowledge the fact that some newcomers will be unhappy with the fact that they are coming into a game that already has an established player base but says that the matchmaking system is designed to make sure that gamers with similar skill levels play against each other.

Patch 11 for Total War: Arena also tweaks balance

The Creative Assembly is also working on making sure that the system requirements for the strategy title become more accessible and is optimizing the engine to make sure that lag is no longer an issue in the long term.

A bug was also found which makes spear infantry unable to deal with cavalry as they should have, and Patch 11 makes sure that the game is better balanced.

Ranged units should also have increased survivability in Total War: Arena and The Creative Assembly is asking the player community to continue to offer feedback on the changes it is making.

At the moment, the entire game is in testing and does not have an official launch date.

Total War: Arena will use the core mechanics of the series but will be free-to-play, with gamers able to select a commander and then take part in massive ten versus ten battles.
