14 DAY TRIAL // A research conducted by AV-TEST to determine the best Windows 10 antivirus for home users brought a few surprises, but not the same thing can be said about a similar test that involves business clients.
AV-TEST says that its April 2018 in-depth analysis of antivirus performance for business users indicated that Kaspersky Lab’s Endpoint Security, Symantec’s Endpoint Protection, and Trend Micro’s Office Scan continue to be the top-rated solutions on the market.
All three products got the maximum score of 18 points, with 6 points achieved in each of the three tests for protection, performance, and usability.
There are several other security products that offered nearly flawless performance and reached 17.5 points, including here Bitdefender’s Endpoint Security and Endpoint Security Elite, Kaspersky Small Office Security, McAfee Endpoint Security, and Symantec Endpoint Protection Cloud.
The lowest score this time was obtained by Palo Alto Networks’ Traps, which received only 3 points for protection, 5 points for performance, and 5 points for usability. With an overall score of 13 points, this security solution is 1.5 points behind the closest product in terms of antivirus performance – F-Secure PSB Computer Protection with 14.5 points.
Windows Defender performance
Microsoft’s Windows Defender scored well in business user tests as well, though this should no longer be a surprise given that the performance of the default Windows 10 security solution has improved substantially in the last months.
Specifically, Windows Defender got a final score of 16.5 points, as it follows: 5.5 points for protection, 5.5 points for performance, and 5.5 points for usability. With little improvements in every section, Windows Defender could achieve top performance, thus making third-party security products more or less redundant.
