Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 was supposed to be the title leading to a rebirth of skating simulation experiences, but the game delivered earlier in the week has failed to live up to the expectations of gamers and is affected by a wide variety of bugs.

This is despite the fact that a major update, which was bigger in terms of file size than the initial download, was offered on launch day and was supposed to eliminate the biggest problems that the development team found in the past few weeks.

Gamers have speculated that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 was sent out to die, but Activision is eager to dispel this idea and is saying that it has plans to solve all the reported issues.

In a statement quoted by Shacknews, the publisher states it is currently "aware of the issues that players have experienced following the launch of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 and are working with the developer to address these so that we can continue to improve the gameplay experience for all of the Tony Hawk fans who have known and loved this franchise for more than 16 years."

Unfortunately, Activision is not saying when a new major update for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 might be launched.

The franchise might be ending with the current installment

Most gamers are annoyed by the fact that Activision priced the new release at the 60 dollars or Euro price point, which is normally associated with AAA releases, despite the fact that the game suffered some major design and gameplay changes during the development process.

A pledge to fix the problems linked to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is a good thing, but it remains to be seen how many resources the company is willing to spend on a game that is not part of its core line-up.

Many fans are speculating that the problematic development process is a result of the fact that the licensing deal powering the series is ending this year.

They feel Activision used Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 to extract some more money from those who loved the first few installments in the series.
