Mobvoi has released an updated version of the TicWatch Pro that comes with twice more RAM as compared to the original Wear OS-powered smartwatch.

Called TicWatch Pro 2020, the device now features 1GB RAM, despite looking exactly the same as its predecessor.

The parent company, however, says the increased amount of RAM will make a huge different in terms of performance, making everything more smoothly from one end to another.

“The upgraded RAM will provide a noticeable performance boost and increased responsiveness, providing an overall smoother experience when opening and using multiple apps and accessing notifications. The upgrade will also allow users to access more accurate health, sleep and fitness data-tracking,” Mobvoi explains.

Already available for purchase

The 1GB RAM won’t affect battery life, so the TicWatch Pro should still provide between 2 and 30 days per charge, depending on the mode you choose – the device features a power saving mode that only displays the time and features basic functionality for up to 30 days.

The TicWatch Pro 2020 also features a military standard 810G durability rating.

“The TicWatch Pro 2020 offers MIL-STD-810G durability to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations, shock, dust and water. The rating will guarantee watch owners protection in water up to 1.5m deep for up to 30 minutes, and will mean, come rain or shine, your watch is safe to use,” Mobvoi says.

The device is available for purchase in the United Kingdom starting February 20 and is available for £222.99 (approximately $290). It’s offered in two different colors called Shadow Black and Liquid Metal Silver and features the same hardware specifications as the previous model (except for the RAM, of course), including a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen, 4GB storage, and a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor provided by Qualcomm.
