THQ Nordic and Koch Media announced recently they have reached an agreement regarding some of their owned franchises. As such, several Koch Media IPs will now belong to THQ Nordic, which in return will give up some of its own IPs in favor of the former.

The following intellectual properties belonging to Koch Media have been transferred to THQ Nordic: Risen, Sacred, Rush for Berlin, Second Sight, and Single: Flirt Up Your Life. In return, THQ Nordic will transfer two IPs to Koch Media: Red Faction and Painkiller.

With the addition of the Risen IP, THQ Nordic unifies all Piranha Bytes titles under one roof. While there's no guarantee that THQ Nordic will launch any new games in these franchises, we do know the publisher will start evaluations on remasters, ports, potential sequels, and new content right away. Apparently, the company already has something in mind, so we'll just have to wait and see what's that.

As far as Red Faction and Painkiller franchises, these will go to Koch Media. It's been 8 years since the last Painkiller game, Hell & Damnation, made its debut, and we sincerely hope that Koch Media will eventually be able to launch a sequel, but we shouldn't rule out a potential remaster of the series.

The Red Faction franchise got a Nintendo Switch port last year, but that's the only newsworthy subject related to the series in a very long time. Now that the Red Faction IP has found a new home at Koch Media, there's hope that the critically-acclaimed series will get a full-fledged sequel.

As an RPG fan, I'm very happy that THQ Nordic got its hands on established franchises like Risen and Sacred. Also, Rush for Berlin, the real-time tactics game set in World War II, is another great addition to THQ Nordic's portfolio.

Probably less known by young gamers, Second Sight is a science fiction action-adventure stealth game, featuring a protagonist with memory of their past and psychic abilities. Last but not least, Singles: Flirt Up Your Life is a life simulation game from the early 2000s, which could be a great competitor to EA's The Sims franchise.
