Someone has come up with a brilliant taskbar idea

Windows 11 comes with a fully overhauled desktop, and part of this modern experience is a taskbar that now comes with all icons at the center of the screen.

Borrowed from Windows 10X, this idea clearly isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, especially because it comes alongside other changes, including a new context menu that includes just one setting when triggered.

In other words, when right-clicking the taskbar on Windows 11, the only thing you see right now is an option that reads “Taskbar settings” and nothing else.

If you’re looking for the Task Manager, this is no longer there, as Microsoft has moved it to the Windows + X menu you can launch by right-clicking the Start menu.

The concept

User rando_520 shared on reddit a very small update to the taskbar context menu that makes the whole thing a lot more useful. The envisioned context menu comes with both a Task Manager and a desktop shortcut, all in the same modern design that’s already available in Windows 11.

It’s not much, but it’s such a simple revision to the Windows 11 taskbar context menu that Microsoft should really have in mind when working on ways to improve the experience on the desktop.

The company is already working on this front, as the first Windows 11 update (due this month) will actually come with a series of taskbar improvements, as announced by Microsoft itself.

“Next month we’re bringing new experiences to Windows that include a public preview of how you can use Android apps on Windows 11 through the Microsoft Store and our partnerships with Amazon and Intel, taskbar improvements with call mute and unmute, easier window sharing and bringing weather to the taskbar, plus the introduction of two new redesigned apps, Notepad and Media Player,” Microsoft announced.
