Vivaldi browser updated with a fully-features Notes Manager

One of the most useful features in the Chromium-powered Vivaldi browser, regardless of the platform where you install the browser, was the built-in Notes support.

As I said before when reviewing Vivaldi’s latest updates, the Notes tool makes it super-convenient to save useful content that you find online. And for me, it comes in really handy when doing my research for various articles, as I can easily store certain information and check it out again later.

The team working on this cool browser has decided to push things one step further with the latest Vivaldi update, so the standard Notes app has been updated to a fully-featured Notes Manager.

As you can easily tell by simply reading its name, the Notes Manager isn’t just a tool that lets you write down quick notes, but a more advanced solution that comes with a series of extra options.

And today we’re going to have a look at what the Notes Manager is all about in the latest Vivaldi browser.

First and foremost, probably the most important thing about the new Notes Manager is that it more or less evolves to become a word processor rather than a simple note-taking app. So for example, you can configure different styles, format fonts, and keep an eye on the word count – yes, the Notes Manager comes with a live word count which is absolutely great and works just like it does in LibreOffice and Microsoft Officer, counting the words and characters as you type.

“The new Notes Manager offers capabilities that feel closer to word processing than to note-taking. The much more powerful notes editor displays notes on a full-page with a text formatting toolbar. With more space and tools at hand, it is suitable for working with both complex and shorter notes,” the Vivaldi team says.

One of the options that would really come in handy concerns formatting, as the Notes Manager should also feature support for other fonts and let users choose the one they want to enable for their notes. Right now, the text formatting options include bold, italics, and headings, and hyperlinks.

The useful thing is that you can also launch the editing interface in full screen, so it’s even easier to work on a specific note.

And of course, since it’s a Notes Manager, the updated feature also lets you search for notes and organize them in folders. This is particularly helpful if you have a lot of notes that you need to keep track of easily in Vivaldi.

“Our philosophy is having tools built in the browser and the Notes manager is part of it. This means you can rely less on extensions and third-party apps which can hamper performance and pose a threat to privacy and security,” the Vivaldi team says.

Then, if you use Vivaldi on more than just one device, you can also sync them across devices – keep in mind that Vivaldi has recently launched on Android too, so you can have your notes synced across platforms too in case you stick with the same browser on the desktop and mobile.

“Vivaldi’s secure syncing of notes content across desktop and Android devices is protected with end-to-end encryption. Notes can be used to store some snippets of code as well. User data is stored on Vivaldi’s own secure servers hosted in Iceland. This means you can compose and view notes safely across devices. For example, you can start writing a note on your Android device, and finish writing it later, or simply view it, on your computer,” Vivaldi says.

At the end of the day, this Notes Manager makes Vivaldi an even better choice than it was before the update. So if you never tried this highly-customizable browser, there’s no better time to do it than right now.
