The device has been revealed in leaked press renders

We’ve known for a while that a new Fitbit Sense was coming, and while previous reports indicated a spring ETA for the device, it’s now very clear the Google-owned company has never been in a rush to bring the new model to the market.

On the other hand, a new leak that has made its way to the web thanks to @OnLeaks and 91Mobiles suggests the debut of the new Fitbit Sense 2 is just around the corner. But more on this later.

First of all, let’s focus on what the eyes can see in these alleged press renders.

It’s pretty clear from the very beginning that Fitbit isn’t aiming for a full redesign of the Sense. The new-generation model will be largely the same, with only very subtle design refinements aimed at the side button and the integrated microphones.

It’s believed the bezels could also be slightly smaller, but the leaked images come with a black background, so it’s hard to tell if this is accurate or not.

Subtle hardware upgrades

Based on the press renders, the Sense 2 will be offered in three different colors, namely Platinum, Graphite, and Gold, with silicon bands in blue, black, and grey. Needless to say, more special designs would also be available, especially for the bands.

In terms of features, you shouldn’t expect breaking changes on the Sense 2. The current model already comes with an army of sensors, including ECG, so most likely, Fitbit will focus specifically on software improvements.

At first glance, this is nothing more than a subtle refresh to the Fitbit Sense, and people familiar with the matter previously suggested that such an approach makes sense now given the focus will gradually switch to Google smartwatches. The upcoming Pixel Watch will run Wear OS, with Fitbit to be in charge of the health tracking capabilities, and many see this as an indication that the days of Fitbit as we know it are already numbered.
