Someone purchased the prototype and posted more photos

A Microsoft Surface Pro 8 prototype leaked a few weeks ago on eBay, and by the looks of things, the customer who purchased the device returned to provide us with a closer look at the device.

Redditor unreliable_noob posted a photo gallery with the purchased prototype, confirming that at this point, the Surface Pro 8 doesn’t come with a major change as compared to the Surface Pro 7.

As far as the design is concerned, the prototype sticks with the existing Surface Pro look, so those hoping for a bezel-less approach might actually be disappointed. Of course, it’s very important to keep in mind that this is a prototype, so there’s always the chance that Microsoft was actually experimenting with the hardware upgrades in the body of an existing Surface Pro model.

If this is the case, then you should still expect the Surface Pro 8 to sport a more modern design, possibly with reduced bezels too.

In terms of hardware, power on this prototype comes from the Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor, and it is paired with 32GB of RAM. There’s 1TB of SSD storage, and the battery has been upgraded to 50,030 mAh from 45,000 mWh on the Surface Pro 7.

The Surface Pro 8 launch

When is the Surface Pro 8 supposed to come to the market? That’s actually a good question.

Many expect the Redmond-based software giant to release an announcement in the spring of the next year, and unless the global health crisis is resolved by then, the company would probably stick with a digital event.

On the other hand, the Redmond-based software giant could very push back the launch until the fall of 2021, which would make a little bit more sense given that a physical event is what everybody is hoping for right now.

At this point, it’s very important to keep in mind this is just a prototype, and the final Surface Pro 8 configuration hasn’t been decided.
