Samsung’s phablet proves significantly faster than its rival

The iPhone X is currently the best of the best from Apple, and it’s supposed to deliver top-class performance that would position it as a leader of the industry.

But as compared to its rivals, including Samsung, Apple isn’t known as a company that significantly overhauls iPhone hardware from one generation to another, paying instead more attention to software optimizations that allow the device to perform certain tasks faster than previous models.

This is how the iPhone X comes with Apple’s A11 Bionic chip paired with just 3GB RAM, while Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 is powered by either the Exynos 8895 octa-core or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, both coupled with 6GB of RAM, double the amount on the iPhone.

But with Apple once again spending more time on the software side of the iPhone X, it was expected the two devices would offer similar performance figure, especially when it comes to day-to-day tasks.

Samsung, Apple’s top rival

And yet, as it turns out, that’s not really accurate this time, with a test performed by YouTuber Techisode TV (embedded below) showing quite a big difference between the two.

This speed test relies on launching and reloading the most common apps that people use these days, including social media apps and other tools like clock and calendar, and does not analyze performance in extreme cases such as running several resource-demanding games at the same time.

And while the iPhone has always been considered a pretty snappy device, it seems that the better hardware on the Galaxy Note 8 does make a difference, with Samsung’s model winning the test with flying colors. Despite the iPhone X scoring significantly better in Geekbench tests, that is.

Obviously, in the end it’s all just a matter of choice, as some people don’t consider these speed tests relevant to their experience and put app loading speed on the second place, but this video does confirm there’s a good reason why Samsung is currently Apple’s top rival.
