iPhone SE 3 based on iPhone XR previewed in renderings

Apple is projected to take the wraps off the iPhone SE 3 at some point in the spring, most likely in March or April, and of course, many people expect massive upgrades on this new model.

This makes perfect sense given the iPhone SE will remain the only small iPhone in Apple’s lineup after the demise of the iPhone mini later this year. The Cupertino-based tech giant, however, has different plans, and only wants to focus on under-the-hood upgrades for now.

In other words, the iPhone SE 3 will be based on the iPhone SE 2, which in its turn is based on the original iPhone SE. To make things clearer, the iPhone SE 3 will look just like the iPhone 8, with a 4.7-inch screen, a Home button with integrated Touch ID and everything else.

This is because Apple doesn’t want to give up on this form factor for now, so the iPhone SE will be all about the new chip, the upgraded camera, and the 5G support.

Optimistic report

On the other hand, a recent report based on a set of renderings created by David Kowalski suggest Apple might be willing to go for a more dramatic redesign of the iPhone SE.

The device could therefore give up on the iPhone 8-inspired design and embrace the iPhone XR look. On the back, the proposed iPhone SE 3 looks just like the current model, but on the other hand, the front uses the design of the iPhone XR, with a notch and everything else.

Needless to say, this is very unlikely to happen, as most sources seem to indicate that Apple plans to stick with the iPhone 8-inspired design for now.

We’ll find out everything about the iPhone SE 3 in just a few months when Apple officially unveils the device.
