Apple expected to give up on the notch on Pro models

The iPhone 14 is expected to debut in September with several big changes in terms of design, and without a doubt, the most notable is the demise of the notch.

Expected to take place only on the Pro models, the removal of the notch essentially means Apple is making the switch to more modern approaches that are already being used in the Android world by rival Samsung and a series of other companies.

In other words, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max could come with pill-shaped and circular cutouts to allow the integration of Face ID components and the front-facing camera right in the glass.

New renders based on CAD images shared by 91Mobiles provide us with a closer look at this substantially updated iPhone, therefore previewing how the new cutouts are going to look like.

Launch in September

Clearly, the removal of the notch will substantially increase the available screen estate, with the speaker grille to remain installed in the top bezel, according to the renders.

As said, only the Pro models will feature this change, as the standard versions will stick with the notch.

Apple will kill off the iPhone mini this year, and instead of this form factor, the company will introduce a new standard iPhone with a larger screen. Called iPhone 14 Max, this model will sport a 6.7-inch display, just like the Pro Max.

However, Apple plans to stick with the notch on both the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max, especially as the company apparently wants to make the Pro models the more premium configurations. Rumor has it that more differences between these devices are planned, with Apple clearly trying to make the Pros the go-to models for those who want the latest and greatest from the company.
