New Microsoft Band 2 discount will last till October

Microsoft is expected to unveil the third-generation Band smart wristband in October, but until now, the company hasn’t offered any confirmation that this is indeed the plan.

But on the other hand, Redmond has dropped several hints that a new Band is on its way, and Panos Panay, the man responsible for the Surface lineup, was also spotted wearing a white version of what seemed to be a new model a couple of months ago.

And now Microsoft is giving what could be another suggestion that the new Band is coming this October, as the company has just discounted the existing models until October 16.

Specifically, if you purchase the Band 2 right now from the Microsoft Store, you can get it for $174.99, down from the original price of $249.99 (US pricing only). Redmond has launched several price cuts since the debut of the Band 2, but this one seems to extend to October in an attempt to pave the way for the new model that could be unveiled at a press conference during the same month.

One last attempt to sell out the Band 2

What Microsoft might be trying to do right now is clear out Band 2 inventories in order to make room for the next generation, but this is probably impossible, given the fact that we’re about one month away from the moment when the new model should see daylight.

Most likely, the Band 2 will continue to be available for a little longer after its successor sees daylight, obviously with a more significant price cut.

As far as the Band 3 is concerned, rumor has it that Microsoft plans to make it more comfortable on the wrist, so it could have a slightly improved design and even come with interchangeable bands. A bigger battery, new sensors, and even waterproofing have been rumored to be offered on the Band 3, but none of these has been confirmed so far, so it’s all just one big enigma for everyone.
