14 DAY TRIAL // Chinese companies have become famous for creating clones of super-popular devices like phones and tablets, and now it’s the turn of Cube to create something that looks like a Microsoft Surface Pro 4.
Called iWork 3X, the new 2-in-1 tablet looks like a Microsoft Surface at first glance, but when having a look at the spec sheet, it becomes obvious that it certainly doesn’t feel like one.
First and foremost, the device is based on the same approach as Microsoft’s Surface, so it’s essentially a tablet that converts to laptop when a keyboard is attached. This is a form factor that Microsoft invented in 2012 with the Surface RT and which the company keeps improving these days with new features, such as pen support.
Built-in adjustable kickstand
There’s no word on pen support on the Chinese device, but on the other hand, it comes with a built-in kickstand that gives it a more laptop-like touch, although this is useful only when a keyboard is connected. According to Liliputing, the keyboard is sold separately, though pricing info is not yet available.
As far as specs are concerned, Microsoft Surface owners will certainly laugh their hats off when reading this. The device comes with an Intel Celeron N3450 quad-core processor which doesn’t even compare to the Intel Core i-series available on the Surface, but which should be able to run Windows 10 just fine.
Other than that, there are pretty good specs, like 6GB DDR3 memory, 128GB SSD storage, HDMI, USB Type-C connector, microSD card support for more storage, and an 8,500 mAh battery that should easily provide around 6 hours of battery life.
As far as pricing is concerned, this Chinese device should cost around $290 in the local market, though the aforementioned source says the international price could reach as much as $360. This makes it quite an affordable Surface clone, though there’s no doubt that what you pay is what you get.
