Microsoft’s December 2022 Patch Tuesday cycle took place this week, and needless to say, Windows 11 got its very own round of updates as well.

Given Windows 11 is already at version 22H2, two separate versions of the operating system got patches, so users who are already on this particular release should update as soon as possible.

The following two updates went live this week for Windows 11 devices:

Worth knowing is that Microsoft has managed to resolve a critical Task Manager issue that on Windows 11 version 22H2 that broke down the way the application was displayed.

In some cases, parts of Task Manager were displayed using unexpected colors, and Microsoft previously recommended users to switch from the Custom mode to either light or dark. The whole thing has finally been resolved with this new update.

“This update addresses a known issue that might affect Task Manager. It might display certain elements in the user interface (UI) in unexpected colors. Some parts of the UI might not be readable. This issue might occur if you have "Choose your mode" set to "Custom" in the Personalization > Colors section of Settings,” Microsoft says.

In addition, the software giant claims that it resolved an important glitch that could cause VPN authentication to fail, obviously causing major problems for enterprises.

“This update addresses an issue that might affect Data Protection Application Programming Interface (DPAPI) decryption. The decryption of a certificate private key might fail. Because of this, virtual private network (VPN) and other 802.1 certificate-based authentication might fail. This issue might occur when you encrypt the DPAPI master key with a wrong value,” Microsoft explains.

The new updates are available for download right now from Windows Update.
