Garmin looks ready to announce the new Fenix at CES

When it comes to new products, Garmin has been very quiet lately, with the company just trying to focus as much as possible on additional polishing for its current device lineup.

On the other hand, we’ve known for a while that a new Fenix was already in the works, and while the device was originally projected to launch in early 2021, this model is still nowhere to be seen.

Like everybody else, Garmin has also struggled with component shortage, so now the company looks ready to take the wraps off the new Fenix lineup at CES 2022.

Very little information is available at this point, but the new Fenix family will include the same three models as before, namely Fenix 7, Fenix 7S, and Fenix 7X. The design seems more polished, and of course, Garmin is planning to offer various colors, obviously in different sizes too.

However, as compared to the Fenix 6, there will be little differences in terms of configurations and features. The rugged smartwatches will continue to be made of stainless steel, and a Titanium version is also very likely. A solar model will probably be launched as well.

The tracking capabilities would be much different from the current model, and judging from the photos leaked via WinFuture, the typical side buttons will still be preferred over touch input. In other words, if you were hoping for a touch-capable Fenix, this won’t happen this year, unless Garmin comes up with a last-minute surprise that it somehow managed to keep hidden from us.

More Garmin models

In addition to the new Fenix models, Garmin is also projected to come up with additional smartwatches at CES, as it follows:

  • Garmin Epix Gen2 (a modern version of the famous model launched 7 years ago)
  • Garmin Instinct 2 and Garmin Instinct 2S
  • Garmin Venu 2 Plus

Out of all these models, only the Venu 2 Plus will come with touchscreen support, as the rest of the lineup will stick with Garmin’s signature screen, relying on dedicated buttons for input.
