Not all models will launch at the same time, report claims

Apple is getting ready to announce its new iPhone generation, but according to people close to the matter, the company has a hard time choosing a date when the new lineup should go on sale.

And it’s all because the company has struggled with all kinds of production challenges, some of them caused by the global health crisis that obviously pushed back the important stages in the planning phase of the new iPhones.

And now it’s becoming clearer that Apple’s new iPhones won’t go on sale in September, as per the company’s typical schedule, with the devices more likely to become available for customers in select markets in October or even in November.

But according to a report from Digitimes, some models will go on sale earlier than others, and the first 2020 iPhones that you will be able to buy are the ones equipped with 6.1-inch displays.

Four iPhones for 2020

Basically, Apple wants to launch four different iPhone models this year.

First of all, it’s an all-new 5.4-inch iPhone that will be used as a way to convince people sticking with smaller models to upgrade to new-generation hardware.

Then, there will be two different 6.1-inch iPhones. One of them will be a successor to the iPhone 11, so it’ll be considered a more affordable option, while the second will be the upgraded iPhone 11 Pro and offered at a premium price.

The top-of-the-range iPhone will be the Pro Max, which will be available with a larger screen, possibly 6.7 or 6.9 inches.

So if this report is accurate, then the two 6.1-inch iPhones are the first to go on sale because their shipments of SLP mainboards started in July. The other models reached the same phase in the second half of August so they’re not ready for hitting the shelves just yet.
