Apple’s 2022 iPhone generation will include, just like the existing series currently on the market, a lineup of four different models.

However, the iPhone family will undergo a series of very important changes, and a recent image that surfaced on Weibo and was published on Twitter by ShrimpApplePro provides us with a closer look at them.

The image appears to show metal molds of the upcoming iPhone models, and while at first glance there’s nothing too exciting, there actually is a lot to be seen in there.

Goodbye, iPhone mini!

First and foremost, the photo confirms the iPhone 14 family will include four different models, just like its predecessor.

Then, it also indicates that all the rumors that have been swirling around the web lately are accurate. This means the iPhone mini form factor is going away, with Apple to introduce a new 6.7-inch iPhone known as Max (without the Pro tag).

As a result, the upcoming iPhone lineup will include the following models:

  • iPhone 14 with 6.1-inch display
  • iPhone 14 Max with 6.7-inch display
  • iPhone 14 Pro with 6.1-inch display
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max with 6.7-inch display

Furthermore, it’s believed Apple will embrace a series of very important changes for the display as well. Both the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max will reportedly ditch the notch, so they will use a punch-hole screen similar to the one on Samsung Galaxy phones.

On the other hand, the standard models (non-Pro) will stick with the notch, as Apple is planning to make a bigger difference between the devices available in its lineup. For the time being, it doesn’t look like Touch ID is ready to make a comeback, but according to people familiar with the matter, this could happen next year with the debut of the iPhone 15.
