Her role in the story is unclear at the moment

Video game developer CD Projekt RED seems to be on the brink of delivering more information about the two expansions that will be launched for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and a new image offered on the Steam digital distribution service suggests that Shani, one of the core characters from the first title in the franchise, will be involved.

The character was a love interest and took care of plague victims and war wounded inside a makeshift hospital, and she did not make an appearance in The Witcher 2.

In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a mission allows Geralt to talk to a surgeon who apparently knows her from the Oxenfurt Academy, suggesting that this is the area where the character might be found in the coming expansion.

Hearts of Stone takes place around the city, in the No Man's Land zone, where a mysterious Man of Glass asks Geralt to take on a very dangerous mission.

Fans are speculating about the way previous game choices will be used by the development team.

It's unclear whether Shani will be at the center of the story or players will only be able to meet her for a moment and find out what she has been doing.

The Hearts of Stone expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will introduce around ten new hours of adventure and should be launched in the fall of this year.

CD Projekt is working on a second expansion for 2016

Gamers who get the Season Pass right now will be able to also download Blood and Wine next year, which will introduce a new region called Toussaint.

Geralt will arrive here to find that war has not affected the land or the inhabitants, but their carefree nature seems to mask a dark and ancient secret.

Both expansions for the Witcher 3 will deliver a range of new gear and enemies, as well as interesting storylines that can be explored by gamers at any point during their campaign.

In the meantime, the game will continue to get access to new updates and to free DLC as CD Projekt RED makes sure the community remains engaged with the title.
