Telltale Games has always been relatively tight-lipped when it comes to details about its future episodic game projects, but the studio is getting ready to officially reveal the third season of its very successful The Walking Dead, with Robert Kirkman himself talking about the coming story and the timeline of the franchise.

In a video from IGN, the creator explains that he is working with the writers from the development team and trusts their ability to create interesting situations for players to explore.

He adds, "Season 3 of the Telltale series is really exciting to me just because the way that the timeline works, season three will actually be getting pretty close to where we are in the comics concurrently, like the books that are coming out now are roughly in the same time frame that season three will be in."

Kirkman also talks about really exciting things that fans of The Walking Dead will be surprised by.

Apparently, Clementine will return to the series in season 3, and she will be a few years older, which means Telltale Games has a chance to show gamers how she has evolved since they were able to control her in the second season of the video game.

The Walking Dead will also have more ties with the comic book

Kirkman is unwilling to talk about the exact role that Clementine will play or give any hints about the protagonist of this coming third season, but he has teased that there are more links to the comic book, like those seen in Michonne.

Telltale Games has not yet talked about a launch date for the new episodic series, but it will probably arrive before the end of the year, initially on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft, with versions for other platforms also a possibility.

Until it can work more on The Walking Dead, the studio needs to finish work and make an official announcement about the Batman series it is also creating, which is supposed to allow gamers to explore the dual nature of the comic book hero as both Bruce Way and the Dark Knight.

There's also speculation that this year the company is planning to also deliver the first episodes associated with the second season of its Game of Thrones title, although so far it has not made an official announcement about it.
