The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is a new PC VR title coming next year from Skydance Interactive and Skybound Games. The game received a trailer that reveals now just a bit of gameplay but the release date as well: January 23, 2020.

From the official gameplay trailer, it looks like this will be another brutal, gruesome experience for The Walking Dead fans, but this time showcased in virtual reality, which makes it even scarier. The adventure players will embark on starts in New Orleans, as the city is flooded and overcome by zombies.

The developers promise the same level of engagement as players must make tough choices that could have devastating consequences for the rest of the playthrough. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners lets players discover who they are in their fight for survival against not just walkers, but the constant threats of violence, disease, and famine.

The main highlights of the game are freedom of choice and visceral combat, which should offer players a new way to live survival horror in a VR gaming experience. As part of the game's combat system, players can scale buildings to ambush enemies from above, hold down a walker’s head to rip a knife out of its skull or attack from a distance with throwing weapons, bows and long-range firearms.

But that's not all, as the game features a massive arsenal of weapons for players to choose from, which can also be crafted. Since this is a VR game, physics-based combat makes every swing of an axe or jab of a knife resonate with impact.

Although we did mention that choices in The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners can affect the story in meaningful ways, the developers also say that it will also affect how the combat plays out. No word on whether or not the game will come to other platforms, but this seems to be built around the VR experience, so let's take it as it is.
