14 DAY TRIAL // In development for a few years now, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre horror game from GUN Interactive and Sumo Nottingham has just received its first gameplay footage and it’s not for the faint-hearted. The uncut, red-band trailer shows the frights and sights of the original film along with a slew of grisly surprises, while also sharing details on expanded platform availability and the release window.
Although we don’t have an exact release date yet, fans of the movie will be happy to know that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will be launching in 2023 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (via Steam and the Microsoft Store). Not only that, but it looks like developers have strike a deal with Microsoft to bring their game to Game Pass on Xbox and PC at launch, so if you’re a member, you’ll be playing this for free.
The teams at GUN and Sumo Nottingham are focusing on recreating many of the scenes from the iconic movie that debuted back in 1975. In that regard, a video that includes direct comparisons to scenes from the horror movie has been released a few months ago, but this is the first time that we actually get a look at the gameplay.
“Since the reveal, one of the main questions we've received has been ‘when will we see gameplay footage?’ We're fortunate to be able to celebrate this news alongside the gameplay our community has been anxious to see and bring them further details on when they can expect to get their hands on the game to experience it for themselves. We hope that fans are as excited for the Uncut Trailer of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre as we are to show it to them,” said Daniel Nixon, Director of Communications, Gun Interactive.
We’ll be keeping our eyes on this one, but an exact release date won’t probably be revealed until next year. Unless the studios plan to launch the game in early 2023, in which case we’ll have more news soon.
