Microsoft has announced a new change in the leadership team of the Windows Insider program, as Dona Sarkar, the current chief of the group, will take over a new role in the Microsoft Developer Relations team.

Dona Sarkar will lead advocacy for Citizen Developers, Eran Megiddo, Corporate Vice President, Windows and Education, announced today, so the Windows Insider program itself will soon have a new chief to take care of everything from getting in touch with insiders to pushing the red button and shipping new preview builds to testers.

At this point, however, nobody has been appointed as successor to Dona Sarkar, but Megiddo says an announcement in this regard should land shortly.

“Currently, we are conducting a search for a new leader of the Windows Insider Program,” Megiddo explained.

“In the meantime, I and the Insider crew (including Brandon, Jennifer, Blair, Jason, Vivek, Eddie) look forward to continuing to engage with you each week as we ship new builds. And as we’ve done since the beginning of our program, we’ll continue to evolve to best meet the needs of this fantastic community.”

Insider program launched in 2014

Microsoft launched the Windows Insider program back in October 2014 when it started the public testing of Windows 10, the operating system that the company launched in the summer of the next year.

With Gabe Aul in charge of this new effort, the Windows Insider program grew at a super-fast pace, especially as more and more users joined it in order to give a try to new features coming to Windows 10 before the public launch.

In fact, this is one of the most appealing sides of the Insider program. Trying out features before they are ready and contributing to the development of the world’s number one desktop operating system is what keeps the Insider program going, with the community always getting new members that bring a valuable contribution to further polishing of the experience with Windows 10.
