14 DAY TRIAL // The Surge 2, the action RPG from developer Deck13, is getting a free DLC today. Dubbed JCPD Gear Pack, the new DLC is available right now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, at no additional cost.
However, publisher Focus Home Interactive announced that all future DLCs will be included in The Surge 2's Season pass, which means there will be no more freebies going forward. Also, Season Pass owners will get a 48-hours head start on January's The Kraken expansion, allowing them to explore new areas with new deadly threats before the rest of the players.
The free JCPD Gear Pack DLC released today doesn't add too much content, which is probably the main reason it's free. Even so, it's nice to know Deck13, once again, gives back to its fans by releasing something free.
The JCPD Gear Pack is the second free DLC for The Surge 2 and contains a whole new set of armor, which you can see in the screenshots, as well as four new implants. Apparently, Jericho City scientists have cooked up new toys for players to hunt down and acquire, such as the JCPD Team Zola armor set, which is all about generating stamina to keep those combos going.
The new armor set works very well when combined with the brand-new Omni-Cell Battery Converter Implant, which converts batteries into drone ammunition so that you can keep slaying without pause.
Along with the new DLC, Deck13 released a patch that brings some new features and bug fixes, such as Nvidia Ansel support, an option to remove multiplayer tags, and a second enemy wielding Codename: Engelhart from the Public Enemy DLC to make sure that everyone can find this specific weapon.
Also, thanks to the update, players will be able to use an implant when another one is still on cooldown, a very important change. Last but not least, the patch should address various stability and performance issues.
