Ariana Grande has had a very rough couple of weeks, ever since she got busted on surveillance camera licking donuts on display in a California donut shop and saying that she hated America and all Americans. In concert the other night, she tried to make amends again.

To her credit, Ariana has apologized for the incident and repeatedly tried to explain why she’d acted this way. She admitted to a very poor choice of words when all she was trying to do was criticize the unhealthy way Americans ate, and she blamed the donut-licking on being young and making a “mistake.”

She still feels like she’s got more convincing to do, apparently. In concert the other night, she thanked her fans for showing up and she said she was proud and happy to be performing in USA, “the greatest country in the world!”

You can see a video below.

The thing is, it’s not her fans who need convincing. After the DonutGate, they rallied online for her and even defended her for putting her tongue (and allegedly spitting) on donuts she knew she wouldn’t buy.

As for her non-fans, they won’t be convinced she’s a nice girl by her try-hard declarations in concert, will they?

Included below is the donut-licking video as well, in case you missed it until now.
