Microsoft Surface Go to feature a larger display

Microsoft is expected to launch the highly-anticipated Surface Go 2 sometime in the next few weeks, and the closer we get to this moment, the more details make their way to the web.

This time, it’s a report from WindowsCentral, which reveals that the Surface Go 2 will actually be slightly bigger than its predecessor.

In other words, the Surface Go 2 will ship with a 10.5-inch screen and a 1920x1280 resolution, whereas the original model boasted a 10-inch display and a 1800x1200 pixels resolution. So the Surface Go 2 will be bigger by just a bit, and Microsoft will achieve the whole thing by reducing the bezels.

Without a doubt, this is a welcome change, as larger screens are always useful on a laptop. And of course, shrinking bezels is something that should happen on all modern devices out there, including on laptops.

Surface Go 2 technical specifications

The Surface Go 2 will be offered with a choice of two processors. As rumored before, the base model will be offered with a Pentium Gold 4425Y chip, whereas the top-of-the-range configuration will come with an Intel Core m3-8100Y processor. The latter will be available with upgraded specs as well, inlucing 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD storage.

The cheapest Surface Go will continue to be available for $399, just like the base model in the first generation. This makes sense from a consistency perspective, as Microsoft wants the new device to be aimed at the same customers as the version that it replaces.

A business-oriented Surface Go 2 is also expected, and some say the Intel Core m3 configuration will be specifically aimed at these customers. Microsoft is projected to roll out an official announcement on the Surface Go 2 in the coming weeks, most likely in April, just around the time when the company also takes the wraps off the new Windows 10 May 2020 Update.
