The very promising The Outer Worlds sci-fi RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment now has a release date and it’s October 25th.

When Obsidian Entertainment makes a game, people pay attention. They have a name in the gaming industry that’s almost synonymous with RPGs and pretty much everything they’ve done managed to amaze players. The had a few duds along the way but it’s nothing unforgivable

We know from Neverwinter Nights 2 or Pillars of Eternity, but another title is more important, and that’s Fallout: New Vegas. That game managed to eclipse even the original Fallout 3, on which in was based, and delivered a storyline and mechanics that really set it apart.

And, from the looks of it, they liked that FPS role-playing game so much that they’ve decided to make something from scratch. The result is The Outer Worlds, which feels a lot like a spiritual successor, although it’s not.

The Outer Worlds is about the mystery

The Outer Worlds promises to be a game driven completely by the story, and it’s set in a colony at the edge of known space. It’s a game where choices are treasured as they can change the outcome of the story in ways that are impossible to predict.

“The Outer Worlds presents you with a variety of options to play through the game. With an array of ranged and melee sci-fi weaponry at your disposal, you can also solve issues with good, old-fashioned spoken diplomacy, or even leadership-driven delegation to your companions,” said the developers.

There is a small caveat that garnered some negative comment from the community. The game is scheduled to release first through the Microsoft Windows Store and the Epic Game store, for the first year. After that, other retailers such as Steam will follow.

The Outer Worlds is scheduled to be released on October 25 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
