The launch date for this particular platform is not known

The Outer Worlds, the upcoming FPS RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division, is also going to be available on Nintendo Switch, at a later date.

The Outer Worlds might have that familiar Fallout feeling, but it’s clear that Obsidian Entertainment wants to do something different with this new IP. It has all the qualities of a great game, and it’s already heading to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

In the past few months, The Outer Worlds game was in the news for all the wrong reasons, without any connection to the gameplay or other aspects. It turns out that Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division made a deal with Epic to feature the game exclusively on their store. And in the Windows Store, but who’s really counting that?

Nintendo Switch means confidence

Porting the game to Nintendo Switch required some investment from the developers and publishers, and it usually happens after the title is released. In turn, this happens if the game is successful as no one wants to invest in porting a game that didn’t sell well on other platforms.

It’s clear that the publisher has faith in the game, and it’s already saying that a Nintendo Switch version will be released at a later date. The announcement was made by Matthew Singh, a developer at Obsidian Entertainment, followed by a trailer. The porting process is going to be handled by Virtous.

It’s not all that surprising that The Outer Worlds is making it onto Nintendo Switch, because the game is built on the Unreal Engine, which is a very flexible engine. Unfortunately, Obsidian Entertainment didn’t make any kind of promises regarding the launch date for Switch.

All we do know is that The Outer Worlds is going to be made available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC (via the Microsoft Windows Store and Epic Games store) on October 25, 2019. The Steam version is expected to arrive sometime in 2020.
