Microsoft Store getting another high-profile application

Microsoft has put a lot of effort into making the Microsoft Store the go-to destination for everything related to apps on the modern versions of Windows, but it’s not a secret that so far, this effort hasn’t exactly paid off.

And it’s all because some high-profile developers haven’t necessarily been in a rush to bring their apps to the Microsoft Store for various reasons, including the reduced interest in such apps in the first place.

Occasionally, however, big apps still make their way to the Microsoft Store, and this week, reddit officially announced its very own client now available for download.

While the reddit app published in the Microsoft Store is good news for Windows 10 and Windows 11 users, worth knowing it’s actually a PWA, so it comes with all the capabilities that you normally get when connecting to the service in the browser.

Wroth knowing, however, is that the reddit app doesn’t work on Windows 10 S, so it requires full Windows to do its magic.

The focus on Microsoft Store in Windows 11

In the meantime, Microsoft keeps investing in the Microsoft Store, and the arrival of Windows 11 will mark another major milestone, as the company is bringing Android apps to the OS.

Android apps will be listed from the Amazon Appstore, though they’ll show up in the Microsoft Store as well.

“The new Microsoft Store is your single trusted location for apps and content to watch, create, play, work and learn. It’s been rebuilt for speed and with an all-new design that is beautiful and simple to use. Not only will we bring you more apps than ever before, we’re also making all content – apps, games, shows, movies – easier to search for and discover with curated stories and collections,” Microsoft said.

Android app support isn’t yet available for testing in the Windows Insider program.
