Despite the ongoing health crisis, the expansion of 5G across the world continues, and as a result, more device manufacturers are now working on devices that would come with 5G capabilities.

In addition to smartphone makers like Apple, Samsung, Huawei, and others, all of which are investing aggressively in 5G, there are some other surprising names that also want a share of this new trend.

One of them appears to be fast food giant McDonald’s, who is reportedly working on a 5G device that could be announced as soon as this week.

The company teased a 5G product announcement earlier this week with a bunch of mysterious photos published on WeChat in China – this is an indication that McDonald’s new device will most likely be limited to customers in China.

And of course, no information was provided because that’s the purpose of a teaser in the first place.

But what we can notice, or at least what we hope the device would eventually turn out to be, is a camera, which might be an indication that McDonald’s is working on a 5G smartphone or tablet. To be honest, I seriously doubt it, as I expect the company to actually prepare something different, possibly a smart speaker or another smart device where a camera would make sense as well.

Of course, this is only pure speculation and there’s so much more to discover about McDonald’s secret announcement, but everything should be disclosed this week as the company says the unveiling would take place on April 15.

For the time being, one thing is sure: the 5G push is supported by companies from all industries, including not only tech firms, which are obviously the ones to insist for this new standard, but also restaurants, the automotive sectors, and so many others.
