A rather poor month in comparison with the previous months

As much as we’d like to report that April is as good as March or February when it comes to game releases, we can’t do that upon closer research. There are only a few dozen games that we know of coming out next month, an amount that pales in comparison with any of the previous months of 2022.

However, we’re going to make it easy for you to decide where to put your money, so here is a list that highlights some of the most important titles set for release in April 2022.

First off, and this is no April Fool’s prank, tERRORbane, a comedic adventure with multiple endings, is coming out on PC and Nintendo Switch on April 1. After that, there will be no major game releases until April 5, so those with huge backlogs can go ahead and try to thin those down just a little bit.

Come April 5, the next major entry in the LEGO series is expected to arrive. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is set for release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Fans of the franchise can read more about the game in our preview.

If you’re more of a sports person who loves to play on the go, you’ll be happy to know that MLB The Show 22 lands on the Nintendo Switch on the same day, April 5. Of course, fans will be able to pick up the game on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S as well. Not to mention that for the second year in a row, the Xbox versions of the game will be available for Xbox Game Pass subscribers at no additional cost at release.

Moving on to the next important title coming out next month, Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is set for release on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on April 7. But there are more games expected to launch on the same day, such as Out There: Oceans of Time (PC) and Forgive Me Father (PC). The latter was initially released on Steam Early Access a while back, and after numerous updates it seems that it’s ready for primetime.

One of my favorite visual novels, the PlayStation 4 exclusive 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim will no longer be exclusive, as the game is now set to arrive on Nintendo Switch on April 12. B.I.O.T.A., a 2D metroidvania action-platformer that promises to offer an 8-bit retro experience with swappable 4-color palettes is launching on PC on April 12 too.

The two games above are quickly followed by Cat Café Manager (PC) on April 13 and Road 96 (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S) on April 14. Winter Ember, an immersive stealth action game where you choose how you want to play (stealth, combat, utility) is set for release on PC on April 19. Don’t forget to check out our Winter Ember preview if you want to know more about the title.

Having reached the latter part of the month, there are several new games worth highlighting. First off, Postal 4: No Regerts, the first-person shooter developed by Running with Scissors, the same studio behind the first two games in the Postal series, is expected to arrive on PC on April 20. On the same day, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is getting its own Nintendo Switch port, and we can’t recommend this game enough if you’re a Star Wars fans.

Racing game veterans rejoice, as MotoGP 22 is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on April 21. Indie game Lumote: The Mastermote Chronicles launches on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch on April 21. If you’re interested to learn more, make sure to check out our preview.

Action-adventure The Serpent Rogue is set for release eon PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on April 26. After a one month delay, King Arthur: Knight's Tale is finally hitting PC on April 26. A third game, Zombie Army 4: Dead War is coming to Nintendo Switch) on the same day, April 26.

Last but not least, Nintendo Switch Sports, the sports simulation game developed and published by Nintendo for the Switch is scheduled for release on April 29.
