Top Apple partner suggests a delay is indeed likely

Apple typically launches its new iPhone generations in September, but the iPhone 12 might actually be pushed to October, with sales to kick off later the same month or in early November.

And while the Cupertino-based tech giant has remained tight-lipped on the whole thing, only dropping subtle hints that a delay is indeed possible, there’s more and more evidence that this is indeed the plan for the iPhone 12.

Broadcom, a key chip partner that makes a fortune every year by working with Apple, suggested that an increase in shipments is now expected to happen in the last quarter of the year, later than usual, according to a report by Reuters.

While the company hasn’t specifically named Apple or the iPhone, it’s pretty clear that Broadcom is referring to the Cupertino-based tech giant and the delay that the new iPhone generation is likely to record.

Four iPhones coming this year

People familiar with the matter said Apple plans to announce the new iPhones at an event in October, while the first shipments should take place later the same month or even in November.

The whole thing is caused by the global health crisis that messed up Apple’s plans and the early planning phases, with key suppliers forced to close some factories and keep staff at home due to local lockdowns.

While some analysts suggested that Apple might eventually be able to deal with this struggle, it looks it wasn’t, and the devices are therefore expected to see the daylight later than usual.

Apple itself is trying to remain tight-lipped on the whole thing, so there’s no confirmation that the iPhone 12 would go live in October or November. For now, what we know is that the iPhone 12 is coming in the fall and that’s pretty much it.
