To give the Blackwood update the attention it needs

Bethesda announced a while ago that it will bring The Elder Scrolls Online to next-generation consoles early next month. Unfortunately, the studio revealed today that it has decided to push back the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version of The Elder Scrolls Online by one week.

The good news is the game is ready, but Bethesda wants to offer fans of the MMORPG the chance to taste the new content at their own pace. As some of you might already know, The Elder Scrolls Online is set to receive another content update called Blackwood, which is scheduled to arrive around the same time as the Console Enhanced version of the game.

So, to give both releases “undivided attention,” Bethesda announced that the Blackwood chapter will still arrive on June 8 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, but the Console Enhanced version of The Elder Scrolls Online will land on June 15.

In an abundance of caution, we are moving the ESO: Console Enhanced launch out a week. We are doing this so we are not launching Update 30 (Blackwood) at the same time as Console Enhanced and can give both our undivided attention. The new date for ESO: Console Enhanced on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 is now Tuesday, June 15.”

That's a smart decision that will help Bethesda focus its resources on both releases one at a time, instead of just splitting them up. Hopefully, both launches will go smoothly next month, especially during this very busy time.

If you're anxious to play the new Blackwood chapter on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S, then you'll have to wait just one more week. Or, you could start playing on your PlayStation 4/Xbox One and then switch to The Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced version when it's out on June 15.
