The developers at ZeniMax Online working on The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited are announcing that they are working on a new major content pack for the MMO, called Thieves Guild, which is set to arrive in the coming months and will expand the world with an interesting set of quests and player options.

Gamers will be able to join the shadowy organization in Abah's Landing and then work to find out why it is being hunted by a powerful mercenary force called The Iron Wheel.

The official announcement adds, "This relentless organization will stop at nothing to see the guild brought to justice for a high-stakes heist that went horribly wrong. As their newest recruit, you'll sneak along rooftops, steal from the shadows, and recover lost treasures to help to restore the guild's reputation."

ZeniMax Online says that gamers who only want to play the base The Elder Scrolls Online experience will get a big patch that tweaks the core mechanics and introduces both a new client and the actual downloadable content pack, which currently lacks a full release date or an attached price.

Thieves Guild for The Elder Scrolls Online will open up Hew's Bane for exploration, which is located on the southern peninsula of Hammerfell, and there is a range of new missions and quests associated with other areas of Tamriel.

Maw of Lorkhaj is the new 12-player trial added to the MMO, and more group bosses are also introduced for high-level parties to take out.

The Thieves Guild will open up a new line of passive skills for its members, and the game will also integrate costumes, items sets, and motifs associated with the new organization that is entering the world of The Elder Scrolls Online.

The free patch will deliver a new 64-bit game client

The grouping system in the MMO is also tweaked to make it more attractive for players to create cross-alliance parties outside of the Grouping Tool.

A range of gameplay and combat changes are also promised for The Elder Scrolls Online, but the developers are not yet willing to deliver an official list, although they do mention that combat text can now be scrolled.

Cyrodiil and the associated campaigns are also getting improvements and animations are prioritized during combat in order to make the MMO experience smoother for all fans.

ZeniMax Online says that it plans to explore more of what Thieves Guild has to offer during the coming weeks in a range of deeper explorations of the new area and the associated story content.

At the moment, The Elder Scrolls Online is offered under a free-to-play business model , with gamers able to explore the core game without paying, although a special subscription is offered to those who want to get access to all the DLC while also getting faster progression for their characters.

So far Bethesda has not announced new plans to create a new single-player Elder Scrolls game, although rumors suggest that one might be revealed later in the year.
