14 DAY TRIAL // The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos is a tactical RPG in the same vein as the Torchlight series. Apart from the very long name, everything else about the game feels appealing and charming. Developed by Artefacts Studio, the game will be voiced for the most part and one of the names stands out from the rest: Felicia Day (The Guild, Geek & Sundry, Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
Unlike Torchlight, The Amulet of Chaos is a turn-based tactical RPG, but the game promises the same high doses of charm, humor, and chaos. As expected, you'll be leading a ragtag company of unlikely heroes and embark on an epic adventure through the dreadful dungeon of Naheulbeuk.
Your goal is to defeat the evil lord Zangdar by making good use of both “strength” and “smarts.” The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos brings out the best you can get from an epic fantasy tabletop campaign and adds the challenge of the very best tactical RPG games, which means we should get an adventure, unlike anything we’ve played before.
It's also worth mentioning that The Naheulbeuk universe is an original creation by French author John Lang. His work started as a very popular audio comedy series parodying role-playing, tabletop games, and heroic fantasy tropes, and now it's turned into a video game (or maybe an entire series?).
In Amulet of Chaos, you play with seven classic role-playing game characters complementing each other’s skills as you level them up: the Ranger, the Elf, the Dwarf, the Barbarian, the Magician, the Ogre, and the Thief.
As mentioned earlier, combat is turn-based and includes creative support mechanics between team members. Also, there's an expansive bestiary that contains more than 100 enemies, hidden and destructive objects with surprising status effects and a lot more.
Last but not least, The Amulet of Chaos features an adaptive difficulty system: from an accessible and fun story mode with simplified combat to the “nightmare mode” where the smallest tactical errors will doom you. The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos releases on PC this summer but you can already wishlist the game on Steam.
