Ubisoft has revealed today a lot of information about the PC version of The Division, the upcoming action RPG that will land in March.

The developers of The Division have talked a lot about the game these past few months, but there hasn’t been too much information about the PC version. That has changed today, with Ubisoft addressing a number of questions, including about the system requirements.

The Division is built on a new engine, and Ubisoft promises to provide an amazing level of detail. This, of course, has a price, which is usually paid with powerful processors and GPUs. They haven’t disappointed in this regard, but they've also said one other thing that is not going to make people all that happy.

The Division for PC

First of all, for the minimum requirements. Users will need at least Windows 7, an Intel Core i5-2400 or AMD FX-6100 CPU, 6GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 with 2 GB VRAM (GeForce GTX 760) or AMD HD 7770 with 2 GB VRAM. Also, no matter the configuration, users will also need 40GB of HDD space.

The recommended requirements are a little bit higher. Users will need at least Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD FX-8350, 8GB or RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290 GPUS.

And here comes the kicker. Ubisoft has also said that The Division needs an online connection, even if you play all by yourself. The developers have published a FAQ, and one of the entries is about mods.

“No. Since The Division is an online, open-world action-RPG, its genre makes modding support technically challenging. However, we are focused on providing the best experience for all PC players.”

Always online has a single problem, and that is the constant connectivity. It’s not enough that users have good Internet connection, the same needs to happen on the server side, and if there's something we’ve learned, it's that it almost never happens. So, prepare to see many people complaining that they can’t play because they can’t connect to the servers.
