Netflix will continue to support its Windows apps

Netflix is one of the companies that developed apps for Microsoft’s modern Windows platforms, including Windows 8, Windows Phone, and now Windows 10, so it was a little bit unexpected to learn that the official client disappeared from the store all of a sudden.

After so many departures from Windows Phone, including here big names like Amazon, PayPal, and CNN, many thought that Netflix would simply join the growing group of companies no longer willing to invest in the platform and deciding to remove their apps in order to concentrate on Android and iOS.

Nope, the app is still alive and kicking

But it turns out that this isn’t the case, and the app was removed from the store for a yet unknown reason. Right now, anyone can download Netflix for Windows 10 once again, as the app has been restored by the company for both PCs and phones.

And what’s more, Netflix has once again reiterated its support for Windows 10, explaining that it has absolutely no intention of giving up on the platform, as so many others have already done.

“Thanks for flagging this. We just looked into it and it appears to be available across all Windows platforms. There are no plans to remove it. We’ll continue to investigate this with Microsoft,” a company spokesperson is quoted as saying.

Netflix will thus continue to receive updates and improvements on Windows 10, and this is clearly a good thing, especially because this is one of the most popular services in the United States, but also worldwide, as Netflix is expanding in other countries too.

Developers who are planning to leave the platform should probably get in touch with Netflix to ask them about the reasons to stay on Windows, but Microsoft and many of the users think that the opportunity to appeal to a growing userbase with a universal app is the only thing that everyone should have in mind when coding for Windows 10.
