Huawei ad encourages users to leave phones aside on Christmas and spend the holiday with people important in their lives

Nomophobia is a term that defines the fear of being out of mobile phone contact, and although we admit it or not, pretty much everyone has it.

Most of us really can’t imagine a day without their mobile phone and 99 percent of the people would rather leave their shoes at home than their phones (we made up these statistics, so no source for them, but you get the point).

It goes without saying that phone manufacturers are aware of this and they can be nothing but happy since their businesses grow up continuously, but Huawei has adopted a different strategy this season.

#BePresent. No, really, be present

A campaign called #BePresent calls for users to actually leave their phones aside on Christmas and actually be there for their families and friends. This is pretty much the best advice that a phone company can give ever and the video you see below is absolutely brilliant.

“We know that it’s easy to get carried away by our great Smartphones but once a year put them aside and #BePresent. Make the special moment possible,” the video description says.

The video was published by Huawei Poland and is part of a broader campaign called #BePresent. But to understand how successful it is, learn that the video was published on November 21 and already has 4 million views and 829 likes on YouTube, which is impressive, to say the least, especially for a company the size of Huawei.

OK, we know this is part of a marketing push, and yes, we know that Huawei also showcases several of its devices in the ad, but the message is one that everyone should actually have in mind this Christmas. Leave your phones aside, people, and just be there for and with the ones that are important in your life. They won’t be there forever.
