Telegram is considered one of the main alternatives to WhatsApp, and the parent company is clearly putting a lot of effort into keeping the app feel fresh and modern all the time.

The pace at which Telegram is being updated with new features is impressive, to say the least, and this week, the company has released another significant pack of improvements.

It all starts with a new download manager, which allows users to see the files they are currently downloading as part of the conversations they’re active in. The download manager also lets users control the download process, manage the storage, and so much more.

“Telegram users can send files of any type up to 2 GB each and access them from any device – with unlimited cloud storage. While files are actively downloading, a new icon will now appear in the Search bar. Tap the icon or go to the 'Downloads' tab in Search to view and manage them – pause and resume all downloads or individual items, and select one to increase its priority or view it in chat,” Telegram explains.

Streaming improvements

The app is also getting a new attachment menu, and on iPhone, this screen has been completely redesigned to make it much easier to share photos, files, and more. The Files tab also lists the most recently sent files, and even search for them using the file name.

Android is getting a semi-transparent interface when the dark mode is enabled, while the streaming capabilities are getting a substantial upgrade with new improvements.

“Groups and Channels support live video broadcasts with unlimited viewers. We noticed that professional bloggers and journalists are increasingly using Telegram live streams to reach their subscribers. With this update, you can broadcast from streaming tools like OBS Studio and XSplit Broadcaster – to add overlays and multi-screen layouts with ease, turning any Telegram channel into a professional TV Station,” Telegram explains.

The new apps are already available for download for each supported platform.
