Lots of new features added in the latest update

Telegram has just received another massive update, this time with lots of goodies, including new features and further improvements.

This time, one of the main highlights is the addition of topics in groups, a feature that makes quite a lot of sense in large communities where the chats need to be organized in a more straightforward manner.

Users can therefore create their own topics and therefore have separate spaces for the subjects they use to tackle. It’s more of a way to create groups in groups, so topics are specifically targeting large communities with over 200 members.

Telegram, however, says there’s more to come for small groups as well.

“Topics function as individual chats within the group – supporting their own shared media and notification settings. Members are free to chat in any topic from Anime to Zoology, using all their favorite features like polls, pinned messages and bots. This feature is intended specifically for large groups, adding new ways to customize their chats and promote discussion. Later this year, we expect to introduce a different set of tools, tailored to small groups,” Telegram explains.

Then, the parent company is introducing collectible usernames, a new concept that’s very likely to be well received by users out there. Especially because the usernames can be sold, that is.

“Telegram users can make it easy for others to contact them or find their public groups and channels via usernames. In addition to one basic username, you can now assign multiple collectible usernames to each of your accounts and public chats. The ownership of collectible usernames is secured by TON, a fast and scalable blockchain network. They can be bought and sold through a new platform, giving a simple and secure way to acquire and exchange valuable Telegram domains,” Telegram further notes.

The update also includes new emoji packs, a redesigned night mode for iOS, as well as options to resize text on Android.
