The new features have already started rolling out

Telegram is definitely one of the biggest messaging applications out there, competing directly with Facebook’s Messenger, WhatsApp and LINE, and others, on both Android and iOS platforms.

One of the main advantages of Telegram is that it offers end-to-end encryption to its users, using the Secret Chat mode. Not many other messaging apps provide this feature, except for WhatsApp.

Nevertheless, Telegram continues to add features to its application on all platforms, be it Android, iOS or desktop. Telegram for Android has gotten an update in the form of a native, in-app video player. The feature is indeed useful, but it’s a rather basic tool that other Telegram applications have too.

Still, this means that users no longer have to exit Telegram and open another application in order to watch videos. It's worth noting that the feature is available in the Android app for Telegram for devices running Android 4.1 and up.

Telegram for iOS has also gotten an update to version 3.10, which arrives with picture-in-picture feature. YouTube and Vimeo videos have gotten a new button in the bottom right corner. You might recall that the video playing feature in Telegram for iOS was introduced back in April this year.

When you tap on the button, the video automatically shrinks but continues to play, so you can watch the content and listen to it while performing other tasks. On iPads, the videos in PiP mode are displayed even on top of other applications.

These aren’t the only new features that Telegram has introduced. The app now allows users to write Drafts and save them as unfinished messages that they can complete and send later.

Conversations with unsent messages will move to the top of other chat sections. One major advantage to this is that users can start writing messages in the mobile app and then continue in the desktop version.

Telegram app is available in the Google Play store for Android and the App Store for iOS.
