14 DAY TRIAL // Makers of Telegram, the popular messenger app, have just announced the latest update brings a brand new functionality for Android users, the option to customize themes.
“We believe in freedom. This is why Telegram is a free and open platform – for stickers, for bots, and even for third-party client apps. We believe that if we give you freedom, you’ll know what to do with it,” says The Telegram Team.
So, as soon as you download the newest version of Telegram, you will be able to completely change what the app looks like. The Custom Themes feature is rolling out to all compatible Android devices starting today, but the developers claim they will bring it to other platforms less popular in the coming weeks.
If you feel creative, you can now make your own Telegram theme by heading to Settings / Themes in the application's menu. In addition to the new feature, developers announced they have added a Dark Theme, which you can switch to from the same place: Settings / Themes.
A new Theme Editor has been included in the update
In order to create a new theme for Telegram, you must use the new Theme Editor added in the latest update. Once you make your preferred theme, you can share it with your friends or other users.
According to Telegram, all shared themes will be available for free since they will be part of an open platform. Even if you don't create your own custom theme, you will be able to download new Telegram themes from various channels like @AndroidThemes.
As far as iOS availability goes, Telegram have announced that the Custom Themes feature will be launched at some point, but that they are working on something different that will be announced in “a couple of weeks.”
It's also worth mentioning that the new feature is now available to Telegram users on Desktop, so make sure you try it out.
