Apple has included a larger battery in the new SE

Apple has recently launched the new iPhone SE, which is essentially the previous iPhone SE that retains the look of the iPhone 8.

And while for many this is an outdated design that leaves room for little improvements, it looks like Apple has found a way to include a larger battery, despite the addition of a 5G chip.

A recent teardown reveals that the iPhone SE 2022 comes with a battery sporting a capacity of no less than 2,018 mAh, whereas its 2020 predecessor was fitted with a 1,821 mAh unit. The 2016 iPhone SE had the smallest battery, as it had a capacity of just 1,624 mAh.

The new iPhone SE

Apple itself hasn’t provided any information on the battery unit that’s installed in the new iPhone SE, though the company did praise the battery life of the device.

“iPhone SE has been an incredibly popular choice with our existing users and for new iPhone customers, thanks to its iconic design, exceptional performance, and affordable price. This year we’ve built the most powerful and durable iPhone SE yet, with better battery life thanks to A15 Bionic, the same chip as our iPhone 13 lineup that also unlocks advanced camera features like Smart HDR 4, Photographic Styles, and Deep Fusion,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing (emphasis is ours).

This means the iPhone SE 2022 should be able to provide pretty impressive battery specs, especially given it comes not only with a larger pack but also with additional optimizations powered by the A15 chip.

The iPhone SE is a little bit more expensive than its predecessor, as in the United States it starts at $429. The device can be ordered in midnight, starlight, and red with three storage options available, namely 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
