Valve is preparing a major content update for end of 2015

The development team at Valve in charge of Team Fortress 2 is announcing that this year the multiplayer-focused shooter will not have a special map offered in order to celebrate real world Halloween.

This does not mean that gamers will be unable to honor the holiday by taking out enemies, as the studio is activating all the previous six events that were linked to the occasion, which delivered a range of new content to gamers.

The company is unclear on whether it plans to deliver all of them at once or if it wants to focus on each one for a limited period of time.

Team Fortress 2 has long relied on its fan community to deliver new content and to improve the overall experience, and for Halloween this year, Valve is also asking dedicated gamers to create special content and to tag it appropriately until October 18.

The studio adds, "Plus, if you didn’t already have enough incentive to submit to the Workshop, we’re changing our restrictions on Halloween items this year. Normally they’re only visible to players on Halloween and full moons. This year, all newly selected Halloween-themed items will have NO restrictions put on them, and may be viewed year round."

The best creations will be showcased by the development team in a special update that has not been dated.

Team Fortress 2 will also get a major content update before the end of 2015

Valve might crowdsource Halloween in the shooter, but the company says that it will spend the time that will open up to work on a range of improvements for the title that should be live before the year's end.

Gamers will be able to get access to new maps, more cosmetics, and an entirely new campaign that features both extra contracts and additional weapons.

The update for Team Fortress 2 will also deal with competitive matchmaking, balance tweaks, and the Mannpower Mode will get a new map and will be moved out of beta testing.

Valve has long used the shooter as a sort of testing ground for new ideas and it will be interesting to see whether the focus on community content for events will also be enabled in other titles, including DOTA 2.
